FAQs

Q: Are you insured? A: Yes, I carry pet walker and sitter liability insurance.
Q: Are you bonded? A:

Yes, I am bonded.  A dishonestly bond covers the unlikely event that a per care person is convicted of a crime.

Q: Do I offer a discount for long-term walking? A: No
Q: Do you offer walking services during holidays? A: Yes. However, arrangements must be made ahead of time.
Q: How do I pay you? A: I accept checks and credit cards.
Q How many dogs do I walk at a time? A: I will walk up to 3 dogs at a time.
Q: Is the price the same if you walk my dog individually instead of as part of a group? A: I cannot accept dogs that cannot be walked in groups due to temperament. If your dog needs off-hour walks when no ‘buddies’ are available, those walks are billed at a higher rate.
Q: What do you do with the dogs when you are picking up or dropping off another dog? A: Dogs are tied securely on a porch or behind a fence while they wait for me to pick up or drop off other dogs. During times of extreme weather, dogs may be ‘sheltered’ in a front entrance for safety.
Q: How do I cancel a walk? A: Visit the Customer Portal where you make reservations.
Q: My dog is old or is a puppy and only needs to get out for a few minutes.  Do you offer pee breaks for older dogs and puppies? A: Yes. See details on my Senior Dogs & Puppy Breaks page.

Holidays

There is a $10 daily surcharge added to invoices for services provided on the following federal holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas.

Due to high demand, I require a non-refundable deposit upon booking services to reserve a sitter. The deposit, charged to a credit card, is $50 for cat visits and $100 for dog boarding or pet sitting. The deposit is credited toward the service total on the final invoice.

Miscellaneous Charges

  • Walk scheduled with less than three hours’ notice $10
  • Full fee applies for cancellations made after 5 PM the day before a scheduled service visit.
  • Cancellation fee (less than three days’ notice for dog boarding/sitting) $50
  • Late fee for overdue invoices $5 per month

Payment for Services

Clients are billed on the first of each month for the month ahead; a la carte clients are billed on the first of each month for the month prior. Payment by check is due no later than the 10th of each month.

For dog and cat sitting clients, an invoice will be generated and billed to a credit card upon booking.  Please do not leave any payment at your home for the pet sitter to pick up.

Please make checks payable to JOHN THE DOG WALKER.

John the Dog Walker accepts Visa and Master Card; card information is kept securely on file.
