As a dog walker and owner, I’ve picked up a ton of poop – LITERALLY. In one of my thousands of walks with my dogs over the years, I have pondered how much of it I’ve picked up over time, and the load of C%#p I’ve collected is enormous. Anyway, this post is not about my incredible talent but a message to all of you do be a responsible dog owner. I’m not into moral persuasion or legal obligation nor do I believe claims that dog feces laying around contribute to the degradation of our waterways. This later argument is a load of c#@p, by the way. A study conducted by Arlington County found that dog feces laying about does not in fact have any significant impact on pollution of the Potomac river.

Actually, this is a public service request for every dog owner on Capitol Hill. When you are picking up little Pookie’s poop and see another “dog donation” nearby, PLEASE pick it up too. Dogs like to poop where other dogs have already done their business. If you are a responsible dog owner, you have probably gotten used to this unpleasant chore so what’s another pile picked up inches away?
